A normal AI PhD's abnormal choices
1. Who am I
I did my PhD in AI. I used to work at research department in big tech like Google and NVIDIA. But, by no means I am famous nor a “rock-star.” Just a normal one.
I did publish some papers that I am very proud of regardless of their impact.
But sometimes I do not find joy in doing the same thing continuously and find my soul perishing when doing that. So I decided to pursue something different.
2. What I will be posting
I started journaling a few weeks ago, when I started working on my startup. On and off. You know, this is not an easy choice to make and writing it all down helps me linearly convey some ideas.
I do not have a strong background nor do I have strong connections so this will be me posting how I achieve some one small wins after another, or setbacks after another.
I won’t be sharing much about the the research nor my startup since I am very “normal,” so not much to share about on those fronts. But I will share the learnings at least once a week.
I am not an native english speaker and I just wanted to share some learnings along the way so you will often see grammatical and spelling errors.
Another goal of mine is to share my experiences to some Taiwanese audience so I will Google translate my posts into Traditional Chinese. So maybe someone would be inspired and know that there are other Taiwanese doing something interesting rather than all honing in the big techs.
If you find something interesting, feel free to leave comments too, I sometimes forgot what I wanted to say while typing too.
